1. How long has your surgeon been performing the Lasik procedure?

Drs. William Self, Jr. and Dr. Melinda O'Rourke have been performing Lasik since it was FDA approved, 6 + years ago.

2. How many cases have your surgeons performed?

Since FDA approval, our surgeons have performed thousands of cases.

3. How often does your practice perform Lasik?

Eye Surgery Center of Colorado schedules Lasik 3 to 4 days per month.

4. What lasers do your doctors use for Lasik?

The VISX or EXCIMER laser, the Autonomous or LADARVISION

5. Will I need to wear glasses after surgery?

There is a 2-3% chance that you might need glasses after your surgery. Our doctors will talk with you pre operatively as to the risks and benefits of the Lasik procedure. You will need glasses if you are at the age where "Reading" glasses are necessary unless you choose to have "Mono-Vision". Our surgeons will discuss with you all the options available.

6. How long does the procedure take?

The actual Lasik procedure takes approximately 15 minutes for both eyes. The total time you would be at the Eye Surgery Center is an hour and a half.

7. Can I drive myself home about surgery?

No, your vision will be blurred and hazy for several hours following the procedure.

8. Is there any pain involved with having Lasik?

There is mild to moderate discomfort ranging from dry, itchy or burning eyes. Some patients experience excessive tearing and or a scratchy feeling. All symptoms usually subside within 4 to 8 hours after surgery.

9. Will I be using any medications?

Yes, you will be given a prescription for antibiotic drops and anti-inflammatory drops as well as lubricating drops to help keep your eyes moist.

10. Are there any follow-up visits included in the fee?

Yes, your surgeon will see you the day after surgery and also several times post operatively for the first year. Any enhancements will be covered for the first two years following surgery.
